 Flesh World hit us with a new, infectious tune "Poolside Boys" from their upcoming album, The Wild Animals In My Life out via Iron Lung Records on June 2nd.

The song debuted over at Noisey today who've called it "a noisy, ethereal, if not subliminally floral track." Flesh World have also announced their first set of live dates in support of the album - full list below and stay tuned for more. Flesh World began with Scott Moore (Limp Wrist) and Jess Scott (Brilliant Colors), in a microscopic lofted-bedroom in San Francisco's Panhandle district. Scott and Jess merged their respective musical histories of hardcore and pop sort of on accident. Actually without any mention of their previous bands, they bonded over the films of Kenneth Anger, the guitar work of Lou Reed and William Reid, the writing of Jean Genet, and the shirtless figures of David Hockney paintings. The pair slowly built songs in between hanging out at drag bars and punk shows, watching SF decay into some sort of inverted Detroit, isolated wealth which sent a lot of young artists running in the last couple of years.

Flesh World is sort of what's left of that, where the only places to have fun are still leather bars, house music clubs, basement punk shows. After the music and vision of Scott and Jess began to coagulate they brought in Diane Anastasio who also drummed in Brilliant Colors. At first Diane could only fit two pieces into the tiny bedroom in which Flesh World's real, basic and primitive sound developed.

Much of production, engineering, percussion and synth saw collaboration with Toronto photographer/legend, Don Pyle (Iggy Pop, Peaches). Pyle contributed enthusiastic efforts to The Wild Animals In My Life and the band considers this early member of first wave Toronto punk, electronic music, etc. to be a component to the sound of Flesh World overall.

It blows my mind that a single person, let alone a group of people, is able to get anything done in New York City. It's a non-stop claustrophobic hustle. You gotta fight just to get to the train that will probably be delayed and covered in a stranger's blood. Isn't everyone a stranger? Maybe it is that very environment that influences some of the best music of the Americas. It would certainly explain WARTHOG's brutish hardcore punk wildness. Our boys are gearing up to hurt some people. Get mean.

Finally, a new deep cut from Melbourne’s visceral post-punk band Total Control.  Typical System, their second LP, was written, recorded, created over the past two years and is set for US/Worldwide release via Iron Lung Records on June 24^th and self-release in Australia/New Zealand on June 20^th.

Total Control emerged from Australia’s dynamic punk scene in ’08, releasing a succession of 7”s that developed from an aggressive post-punk band sound to studio forays into electronic forms from minimal wave to house.  Their debut LP, Henge Beat, was commended as one of the few records released in 2011 that evaded the ease of classification and competent tribute act status of most modern bands.

Subsequently, they have released three very different records: a split 12” with Thee Oh Sees, a 7” single on Sub Pop and a house remix 12”. Typical System develops on the incongruent demands of their debut LP and ensuing releases, a further development on their continually evolving sound.
